Florida vs. Alabama: The Hottest Rivalry in Sports

By Dan Harralson

The last two SEC Championship games have been epic. Florida took the 2008 edition (31-20) and Alabama took last year's rout (32-13.) Florida holds an 8-5 edge over the Tide since Steve Spurrier came into Gainesville (1990.) Overall, Alabama leads the all-time series, 21-14. Forget Alabama vs. Auburn, Florida and 'Bama vs. Tennessee, and Florida vs. Florida State (although Meyer may want to pay extra attention to the 'Noles this season); Alabama vs. Florida is huge these days. Coach Meyer will try and bounce back from losing to Nick Saban, but does he really have Alabama in the back of his mind? Meyer could barely keep control of the antics thrown his way from 'the former Tennessee coach.' What makes individuals feel that he was telling the truth regarding Alabama during SEC Media Days? Sporting News posted a good article pertaining to the Gators entering fall camp with 'Bama on their mind. The synopsis is that the Gators aren't replacing Tim Tebow, only replacing the L for a W on October 2nd.

"I can't stop thinking about it," receiver Chris Rainey said. "I think about it every day. ... We got embarrassed. We looked like a high school team out there. And every time they show the video, it's like, 'Dang, was that us for real?"

Was Coach Meyer telling the truth at SEC Media Days when asked about having Alabama circled? I proposed the question to Meyer during Media Days, but is this another example of Urban sneaking around the truth? He tends to do that. Enjoy the Sporting News article: Click Here
